Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre Shop

The Tour

The Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre is housed in the original 1897 Bonded Warehouse. The tour starts with an audiovisual presentation in different languages.

Tullamore Dew Whiskey

Tullamore Dew Old Oak Barrels

The exhibition relates the story of Tullamore Dew Whiskey and the work that used to take place in the distillery. Visitors can wander through the various recreated working stations of the distillery such as the malting, bottling, corking, cooperage areas and the warehouse where the old oak barrels filled with Tullamore Dew Whiskey were left to mature.

Throughout the tour visitors constantly have the opportunity to see and touch the artifacts for themselves. Indeed, they can try to shovel the barley or use the old plough. They can operate the grinding stone by turning the wheel or why not fill the bottles by hand, as it was done in those days. Come and see the Customs and Excise Officer at work in his own office.

Irish Mist Liqueur

The tour continues to the Irish Mist Liqueur section, where they can admire a community of 70,000 live bees collecting restlessly nectar for their queen. Since its launch in 1948, Irish Mist Liqueur has been a story of intensive marketing and those marketing ideas are finally disclosed and displayed.

Tullamore Town

Tullamore TownThe other theme of the exhibition is the story of the development of Tullamore. The journey starts 9,000 years ago with the formation of the bog. Here, visitors will be able to learn about raised bogs and see the different uses of peat. Then, from a mere village, Tullamore developed rapidly to become one of the fastest growing towns in the Midlands.

Through the journey, they can experience the old public punishment by chaining themselves in the stocks that were located in O'Connor Square, then called Charleville Square. They will be able to step into the shoes of the merchant class of the 19th century and try on costumes.

Complimentary Tasting

The tour ends up in the Old Bond Store bar with a complimentary glass of Tullamore Dew Whiskey or Irish Mist Liqueur.
